The 2020 B2B is an all new course with the start and finish located in the Bathurst CBD. The course has been designed in collaboration with legendary Australian cyclist, Mark Renshaw.

UCI QUALIFICATION
The 2020 B2B has been included as one of three Australian qualifying events for the Union Cyclist International UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. The UCI World Championships will be held in Canada from 9 - 12, September, 2020. The UCI event is a high-level competition for masters and amateurs but also aims to support the idea of cycling for all. Australia has been the best represented country in terms of numbers of participants in the World Championships over the past seven years.

ELITE & UCI START WAVES

Elite Wave |
The Elite Wave will be limited to 120 riders CA race membership holders as determined on merit by the CNSW State Handicapper. Those riders who are not allocated to this wave will be reallocated into the Long Course event. No team vehicles will be permitted under any circumstances. Neutral support will be provided by up to 3 vehicles. |

UCI Men’s Wave (Age Based Start Waves) |
Male riders seeking qualification for the UCI World Gran Fondo Championships are encouraged to assemble and depart in this wave. This will give you the best opportunity of riding against fellow riders whom you are riding against for qualifying positions. Age Category riders will start youngest to oldest, with each age category having a unique colour seat post identification tag. Based on numbers in each age category, groups will be started with a small break between each age category. |

UCI Women’s Wave (One Complete Wave) |
All women participating in the Long Course event will start in the same wave. There is no age category starting order, but qualification into the UCI World Gran Fondo Championships will be by age category. |

UCI AGE CATEGORIES
There are eight (8) different age categories for men and women in the UCI Wave Starts Age categories are defined by the riders’ age on December 31st of that year. UCI Gran Fondo World Series who move into the next age category in the following year are automatically qualified for that age category. Age category riders are eligible for all category wins.

RECREATIONAL WAVES
For riders who wish to ride the course at their own pace and who do not wish to be grouped with riders who are riding to qualify for their Age Category. Riders will remain eligible for qualification should their times place them within the top 20% for the age category. Recreation Category riders will start after Age Category riders, fastest to slowest according to the riding speed selected when entering. Riders for all waves other than Elite will start in groups averaging 100 riders and leave thereafter at 2min intervals.

MOUNT PANORAMA SAFETY
The 2020 Bathurst2Bathurst 100km course includes a full lap of the legendary Mount Panorama circuit.
- Mount Panorama is an iconic racing circuit and has seen cars, motorbikes and even skateboards descend the famous mountain.
- A number of safety measures will be in place for potentially hazardous stretches of road, including the descent down Mount Panorama.
- We advise all cyclists to ride to their ability first and foremost.
- Be aware of other riders.
- Hazard reduction is in place on tight corners on Mount Panorama with the use of hay bales.
- We’ll have signage and volunteers along the courses which will notify cyclists to use caution when approaching technical areas.
- First aid is on hand at numerous locations around the courses.
- Emergency services are on stand by for major accidents.
- Riders need to obey course instructions, be cautious of steep descents, be careful and ride at your own risk.
